We wanted a game that could keep going with someone we like. A move during a break. A reply later that evening.

Chess with friends →Four or six friends, two teams. Choose a move together, with an equal vote for everyone. A private conversation on your side, a shared board in the middle.
Team chess →Perp Chess is online chess with friends, played a little at a time. You take turns without needing to be online together. Choose 24 or 48 hours per move, think it over, and leave your reply on the board. A game can become part of your week.
Sign in with Google or an email code. Choose a one-on-one game or teams, name your table, and set the time for each move.
Send the private invitation to a friend, your partner, or your group chat. Everyone signs in, picks a side, and joins the same table.
Once everyone is seated, the host starts the game. Come back for your turn, leave a message, and make your move. Your board will be here when you return.
Play team chess in groups of four or six, with two or three people on each side. You share the pieces, but everyone gets an equal vote. Use the team conversation to compare ideas before choosing a move.
With majority voting, more than half your team must choose the same move: two matching votes in a team of three play it immediately. Choose unanimity if you want everyone to agree. You can change your vote until the move is played.
Your opponents see the move you play. Your votes and team conversation stay on your side.
A closer look at team chess →2 of 3 agree. Nf3 is played.

Waiting for a friend
Your team’s move
You can keep several chess games going at once. One-on-one tables and group tables have their own sections, so the quiet game with your oldest friend never gets lost among the team debates.
Each table keeps its own position, conversation and move clock. See where it’s your turn, open that table, and pick up where you left off. When a game ends, everyone can agree to another round at the same table.
A legal move, a team vote or the daily chess puzzle keeps your personal streak going. Waiting for your opponent? The puzzle gives you something small to play while your game takes its time.
Your table has a shared count, too: one round each time both sides make a move. It stays with the table while you wait, and carries into a rematch. It’s a record of the game you’ve kept going together.
The first contribution of the day earns 20 coins, with another 20 every five active days. Use them for a profile frame, a different set of pieces or a calmer board colour. Your photo or avatar sits at your end of the board. Taking a break never takes your collection away.
Play in your browser on iPhone, Android or your computer. Add Perp Chess to your home screen if you want a place for it beside your other apps. On iPhone, use Safari’s Share menu and choose Add to Home Screen; on Android, use your browser’s install option.
Move notifications are optional. On iPhone, add the app to your home screen before enabling them. You can pause notifications in your profile whenever you like.
A few things you might be wondering.
No. Perp Chess is asynchronous: you make a move, then your friend plays when they have a moment. Each turn has the 24- or 48-hour limit you chose when creating the table.
Yes. Open a one-on-one table and share its invitation. Only the two of you can see that table’s game and conversation. You can also have other tables going at the same time.
In majority mode, more than half of the fixed team must choose the same legal move. For three players, that means two matching votes; for two players, both must agree. Unanimous mode always requires every teammate. The move is played as soon as the threshold is reached.
Each side has one automatic two-hour extension for the whole match. If that extension also expires without a move, that side loses on time. After the extension has been used, later turns end at their normal deadline. The same rule applies to a team that has not agreed on a move.
Make a legal move, cast a valid team vote, or solve the daily puzzle. Any one of those is enough. The activity day changes at 02:00 in your account’s timezone. You start with one rest day and earn another every seven active days, up to two, to cover missed days.
Yes. You can create tables and play for free. Cosmetic items are unlocked with coins earned by playing; they do not change how the pieces move or give anyone a chess advantage.
An account is required so your games stay with you. Sign in with Google or an email code; you do not need a Gmail address. You can play directly in the browser without downloading anything from an app store.
You’re welcome to play with someone you know. The board shows legal destinations when you select a piece, and you confirm before a move or vote is submitted. Perp Chess is a place to play together; it does not provide a chess course or an AI coach.
